*Sob..... Cry...... Sob*

Hello everyone,

Today, is sadly my last day at Enrich, forever. Yes, that's right... I'm not coming back. Over the past three years at Enrich, I have had a blast! I enjoyed getting to make new friends, meeting new teachers, but mostly I enjoyed all the Technology Challenges, Passion Projects, Wilson games.... The list is too long!!!! It was a privilege to have the opportunity to come here, and I'm so glad I did. Going to Enrich teaches you so many things, like Task Commitment, Managing Time, and also opportunities that you can't have at your home school. A few of my highlights this year was Passion Projects, Drip Painting, Affective Study, and the trip to the Museum to look at the Roman Exhibit.

Sadly it's time for me to go..... *sniff, sniff*. I loved going to Enrich, and I'm so glad I came. If you ever get the opportunity to come, take it because honestly it's a once in a lifetime thing.......
Byyyyyyyye!!!!!

Grab, Tape, Paint, Remove

Kia Ora! Today at Enrich we had to finish our Affective Domain Study. I was a bit nervous because I haven't been at Enrich for a while, so I thought I might not get it done *GASP*. I got my bottom into gear though, and I completed it all...... Well, almost all anyway. Darryn said that I've got another week to complete it, so I should get it finished by Week 7.

Also today we had another round of Patterns Workshops. We had the option to opt out and go into another one if we wanted to but I stayed with Katie, (big Katie, well not BIG Katie but teacher Katie) doing Art. We are now doing Abstract art. We get our piece of paper then put masking tape over it to create little triangles, squares etc. Then we paint the little pieces different colours. When you take the masking tape off, you're left with nice clean white lines, and shapes of colour. In our cozy little Art group there is Arnia, Sophia, Hannah C, Pippa, Emma and I. Oh yeah, and PIPPA IS BACK TO ENRICH!!!!! Yay, my life is complete! Hahahaha :)

Well, that brings me to the end of my blog post, but you will hear from me not next week, (because I'm going to Aussie) but the week after!  Farewell.... Goodbye...... Bye...... I'm going.....I'm going.... I'm gone.....

MESSY MESSY MESSY SPLAT!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi ya! Well, for our Teacher Led Workshops today Katie, (not me Katie, I don't talk about myself, I mean Big Katie.... Teacher Katie) took us for Drip Painting. (I could be fancy and call it Abstract Expressionist, but..... I'm not fancy). So anyhow, in Drip Painting you just basically thwack your brush around with paint flying everywhere, but without touching the canvas. We weren't allowed to make a huge mess, (Ohhh man!) so instead we just did the exact same thing but making sure we weren't coating ourselves in paint..... Or the other person. You can also go on a website that lets you do the exact same thing, here's the link!
SPLAT MESS WITH JACKSON POLLOCK

This is one of the pics I made......

It was another fun day at Enrich..... I won't be here next week due to Labour Weekend but you'll hear from me the week after.
So have fun and GET SPLATTING!!!!

Term 4 WOOO HOOOOO

Three terms ago Darryn said to us, "Okay, this year will go fast, actually extremely fast because you're year sixes"

WOOOOOOOSH!

Three terms later I'm sitting here and I'm thinking, "Where did this year go?!?!?!" It's the first day back in Term 4, and what a fun-packed term it will be! I've got my Affective study that's got to be ready by week 4-5, and to be quite honest........... I'm still just getting my information sorted..... Shhhh, don't tell the teachers! But I'll work hard and hopefully achieve that to a reasonably high standard. Then I've also got my art exhibition coming up, so this is where the hard work comes in, and with hard work hopefully there will be masterpieces! The paintings I start doing now should be the ones I put into the exhibition but I've got some paintings that I've done in the past that I would really love to go into it.

We have also just had a Technology challenge. We got given heaps of newspaper and some cello-tape, to make a chair that would hold up a wooden frog. Now when I say heaps of newspaper I mean HEAPS! So first we got into groups of five. BUT....... There had to be at least one girl or one boy in each group. YAY! (Sarcasm). So Me, Myself and I went in a group with Eddie, Kavarn, Jordan and Callum. Then Hannah joined in after she finished guitar lessons. (Thank goodness I wasn't the only girl) But it turns out being in a group with boys isn't all that bad. We ended up winning so that's pretty cool, because it's the first time I've been in the winning group for a Tech Challenge.

So sadly I have to go.......... :( But I'll be back next week! And then I'll be away for the next two weeks, due to Labour Monday and me going to Australia :)........ Bye

Walking

Today I went for a little walk from Enrich, to the Warehouse, then to Briscoes, then to the city Art Gallery, then back to Enrich! So now my legs are tired..... Why did I go for a walk around town, you may ask? Well, as you know I'm putting together an Art exhibition at the Art Gallery, so Haley and I were out looking for frames for my paintings. We had a look at Briscoes and the Warehouse for frames, and then we went to the Art Gallery to book a wall. The exhibition will be at the start of December, and will be up for two months. I'd rather do it then, because I could have time to show my class and also friends and family. This would be better then having my art up for three weeks and trying to rush to go and see it!

So I shall "see" you next week...

Sunrise or Lily Pads...

Tache, Tache, Tache! Well, today I did Painting................. You know, the usual. But it was different painting today, not watercolour. We took a look at Claude Monet's paintings, but mostly Sunrise and Lilypads. Two of his most famous paintings.

I had already done Lily pads last year so I got to do another painting leading on from that. The reason why these paintings look so cool is basically because of the brush strokes and tache, (touch). We chose to do vertical lines for the water and horizontal lines for the sky or lily pads, (depending on what you chose). You also mix the paints on the canvas instead of the pallet......

Well, I've got to go home now, but I'll post again next week.....

(James Bond music please?)

Hey my super-stealthy stalkers! Yes, I went stalking today again.... BUT WAIT DON'T GO! I'm not as weird as you think.... Well, not entirely anyways. We walked around town, us five kids in stealth mode and our grumpy supervisor Nicola, (she's not THAT grumpy). We also went to the Library, wondering if we would find any interesting people there, and did we find any? Oh yes, most definitely! I was writing down notes when I found all the missing puzzle pieces to a story. A 'interesting' lady, with her nose stuck in a book, travelling shop-to-shop asking for plum juice. Don't ask me why.......

Until next week...... Stay St-healthy! (See what I did there?)

Stalker-walker

Hey friends, followers and complete strangers that I don't know! Thanks for reading my blog. This afternoon Pippa, Blake, Arnia, Sophia, Madison and I went on a little walk around the block, (Izzy wasn't here.) This was because we have chosen the Writer's Studio workshop. Now we get to spend the next four weeks with the amazing and talented.... Nicola Lynch!!!!!! We grabbed a pencil and got given a notebook, then started on our journey.

While we were walking we saw a middle-aged lady with what looked like a giant's coat on. Nicola jumped up-and-down and shouted "She's got a million Chihuahuas in her coat." (She didn't really jump up and down or shouted.) "And whenever the Chihuahuas have to go pee she has to kneel on the ground." We continued walking around letting our imagination take over. One of my funniest ideas was of a guy wearing short-shorts with a tight leather jacket and sunnies, so I put down 'old dude trying to be cool but not working'.

It was fun walking 'round town in the nice, hot sun, and hopefully I get to do it again!

See ya later! Katie.

Bits and Bobs

Hey everyone
Today at Enrich I did Behavior Patterns Part Two. We looked at Learned and Unlearned behavior. Some people try and change some things or someone's behavior for them, it can be mean at first but if it is for their safety, then that's fine. Parents can try and change their kids behavior with little things like sticker charts, pocket money or bribes. Pocket money would change a kids behavior. If they used manners, tidied their room, emptied the dish-washer, picking up toys, etc, they would get maybe $2.

Haley, my Art tutor, was busy today and couldn't come in so I decided to reproduce one of paintings I've already done. Here is the original:
And this is the one I recreated...

Pretty good eh? Oh, my, gosh! There are only 16 more days at Enrich - ARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!
Well, I better get going..... I'm taking a student led workshop! Wish me luck....

Painting a Photo

Today I Painted a picture that I took. It was 5:00 at night and I was driving past the water tower. I love how the picture is dark, moody and gloomy. All the different colours in the sky complement each other. I don't know if you can see, but the clouds look quite good how they drift into the sky and then just look like they're drifting. I don't like clouds that just look like they've been placed there. It was hard to figure out which half I should make dominate the picture. I chose the shadows of the buildings. This is the actual picture.
I chopped a bit of the picture out to make it a bit more focused on the pole and the Water Tower in Invercargill.
 See ya next week...

BAAAAA BAM!!!!!!!!!!!

Doesn't this picture of me look so pretty and beautiful?! Oh, and there's my painting in there as well.
I was working on a different way to paint my tree. Instead of being precise, you can be a bit "free-er" with the brush. I did the background first, then put more colour onto it. Then I layered the foreground and made it darker and darker. Then the trees, and lastly the trunks. Painting is my Passion Project, and if I paint enough paintings I could get a space in the Invercargill City Art Gallery.
I love the trees in this painting because they are still neat, but in a messy way!

"Oh, Miss Heads...?"

Today I did a Student Led Workshop. I ran the workshop on Painting... (duh!) I was kind of bummed out at the start of the day because only Arnia was coming to my workshop. After Nicola showed us the Student Led Workshop board, (Nicola was our main teacher today because Darryn's girl was sick) some other people signed up to my workshop. I nearly jumped for joy, LITERALLY! Soon it was time to start the workshop. I started feeling a bit nervous, I mean what if no one really enjoyed it or liked it, or some people thought it was a bit random! I soon got over that though. I started taping there boards down... I thought I would only make them do back-ground washes because it would take too long to help them create a painting. I taped their boards down with masking tape into quarters. We did two techniques, wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry. We only used the three primary colours in water-colour. Yellow-Ochre, Ultramarine and Crimson. I had a lot of fun and I'm sooooooo happy because Pippa and Claudia are writing about painting!! Here is a few paintings and Pippa and Claudia's blog links!

I 'M AFRAID OF SPOONS!!!!

Sorry readers, I couldn't think of a way to start my blog post!! (FYI I am NOT afraid of spoons).
Haley came in this morning and helped me create yet another masterpiece! (laugh out loud). I am sooooooooooooo excited for Student Led Picks!!! Next week I'm running a workshop on Art.
I might teach them all about different washes. Washes are the backgrounds. There are Light to Dark washes, Gradient, Dark to Light and One colour washes. I love listening to the Drama group sing while I'm doing my Painting. Enrich is great!
Until next week...

Panting Painting Painting

"Painting... Painting... Painting.... All I can do is Paint... I love Painting...  Painting is how the world turns around... Painting is all I can talk about... LITERALLY" I said to myself as I started painting a picture. "Now you've got to use the whole brush, Katie, let it do its job," Haley told me. "Okay," I said. I am learning so many different techniques with Haley. She is sooooooooooooo helpful!!!! "So when do you think we would put the exhibition together??" I asked her. "Well," she said, "We need to have at least twenty paintings in the exhibit." Man.... I thought. Twenty!!!! I wonder if I could sell them?? "Haley," I asked. "Yes," she replied. "Do you think I might be able to sell some of my paintings??" "Well, you probably could but it all depends on whether or not someone wants to buy them," she said. YESS!!! I thought.... Hey.... What if I do sell them???? Then I could be RICH!! Some painters sell some paintings for hundreds of dollars. But you have to be pretty good at painting to sell some. That would be amazing if I could sell some. Well I'll just have to practise. You know what they say, ' Practise makes perfect'. I see how well I go next week...

Landscape complete!

"Ahhhhhhh, hello my dear friends". Last week of term one already. WOW!! That went fast. I can't bare to leave Enrich. It's so scary!! Three terms to go and then never coming back to Enrich, ever, again. :(
It's not far away at all.......... But still three terms away...........

On a happier note Hayley came in again today and together we created a masterpiece, (don't mean to brag). Here's my watercolour picture....

It's a landscape. I partically like lanscapes. Next term Hayley and I are going to look at painting an image of water. Then hopefully we will paint water with land. I won't hold you up, so see ya' next term.......

Right, I'm tired so I'm going to make this quick.

Today we went here, there, and everywhere around town because of Patterns. You may not think so, but trust me, there would probably be one pattern for each of the stars in the sky.

Firstly we got split into three groups. Next we had a bite to eat. We had to get cracking because we had a lot to do. We went to the Library first because the Art Gallery we were going to was shut, (Great, NOT!). The main idea was to get photos of patterns and write them into their right category. People think there are only four category's for Patterns, Beauty, Order, Strength and Survivability. But I think there are five, Beauty, Order, Strength, Survivability AND Random.

Anyway, after the Library we headed to Wachner Place. I found heaps of Patterns there - even more than my age, (but I'm only ten). We went to Countdown and then back to Enrich to grab our lunch. After our lunch, you won't believe this, but we walked, yes, WALKED to Queens Park, after walking for about forty-five minutes. We had lunch at Queens Park then looked at the museum's art gallery and toodled on back to Enrich and here I am.

I better be getting on... (yawn)
See ya next week

Polyfest

TOOT TOOT!! Her Royal highness is coming through. Wait a minute...........the Queen??? Oh no, no, no, no, just me!! Today Pippa, Claudia, Hannah and I made a Royal Throne out of the amazing lego. Although if thou comest onto thy royal throne I will accompany you to an amazing world called Enrichland. Today my fellow students and I talked about Polyfest. It is a festival where people can enter competitions, and share things for example Kapahaka. For the competition thou can enter in T-shirt design, Art  exhibition and Community Lei. Thy are going to try the so called 'T-shirt Design' and the 'Art Exhibition'. Thy can't wait!!
I bid thou goodbye for now, and hope we meet again.
Sincerely Katie

Drama games

Da, da, dada, da, da, daaaaaaaa, SIT! Dadadadada, dun, dun, dun, da.......SIT!
We played a drama game called Musical Bumps. What we had to do was...... We danced the most wildest dance to music and then sat down when the music stopped.

Green?? No...... Yellow????? No..... Blue??? Yes........
Today an Artist came in and gave me a few tips on Watercolour Painting. She is coming in again next week to work with me, I can't wait!!! She's going to teach me different techniques on how to use watercolour. This is one of the things she showed me how to do......(pictured right)
I really like how it can have four different backgrounds on separate bits of the paper.

One, time, I, went, to, the, shop, to, buy a, OUT!!
This was yet another drama exercise we experienced. There were three people up on the stage and they had to make up a story but only using one word each. It was challenging, but not that hard.

Nicola is very good at coming up with drama games.......... I wonder what ones will be next week!!

Slap!! Splotch!! Squelch!!!

YES, YES!!!! I'm finished!!

Painting, ahhhhhh, how I love it so much. This is probably what my days at Enrich will be like for the next eighteen weeks or more. We were sitting on the mat when Darryn said, "Right, on to Passion Projects now". I started thinking about my passion, painting. ( Duh?? I've talked about it for ages now) Anyways, I pictured myself painting trees while sitting under trees!

Katie.........Katie......... It was calling me. "Katie!"  I finally came back to the real world. Darryn was reading my passion proposal. "So Katie" he asked, "what are you going to do once you've learned how to paint properly??". "Well" I answered, " I was thinking of putting some of my work in the gallery or setting up an Art Exhibition right here".
I went away and planned what I was going to do for the next few weeks. I'm trying to find an artist I could contact. It's kind of hard trying to find one in Invercargill, but I'll get there.

I can't wait until next week. Painting..........Painting.........

Ahhhh, back at Enrich, a dream come true!!

Today we found out what the Concept Curriculum is. Last week it was a mystery' but this week all was revealed ............... Patterns!!! We wrote down our Prior Knowledge about patterns, then went with another group and wrote our combined answers on a big sheet of paper. That took about an hour and a half. After that my head was pounding with Patterns of Patterns!!! So that was when we went onto Poems. We had to fill out a sheet for the teachers to get to know us. Then we filled out a sheet called 'I am...'. We could share it with other people or if we didn't want to then we wouldn't have to. During the day we also went over the 4 Cornerstones. (Affective Domain, Mental Edge, Talent Development/Passion Project and Concept Curriculum). We also played a game of Piccadilly Circus.

It was a great day at Enrich!!
